NEXT COMMUNITY COUNCIL MEETING

The next Ordinary meeting of the Community Council will be held on

Monday 31st March 2025 at 7.00pm in the Village Hall. AGENDA

(PLEASE NOTE:  Minutes are deemed to be in draft form, until such time         

that they are approved/adopted at the next Council meeting.)

DISSOLUTION OF REDWICK COMMUNITY COUNCIL

At their December meeting, Newport City Council resolved to dissolve Redwick
Community Council with effect from 23.59pm on 31st March 2025.  Final 
arrangements are currently being made to transfer the Community Council
assets to the new 'Redwick Community Group.'

CHAIR'S REPORT FOR YEAR 2023/2024

At the Council's Annual Meeting in May 2024, the retiring Chair, Cllr Kath James

gave a short report on her 2023/2024 year of office.  REPORT

REDWICK COMMUNITY GROUP 

A meeting was held to update residents about the new Redwick Community

Group that will take over when the Community Council is dissolved.  A copy of 

presentation is available.

RESULTS OF COMMUNITY POLL

Following the Community Poll to disband the Community Council, held on

Thursday 21st March 2024.  The results of the Poll are in, and Council would

like to notify residents that the Community voted to disband the

Community Council.  Meetings will now take place with a view to winding

down the Council - these may take a while, but be assured your Councillors

will be working to ensure the transition from Community Council to

Community Group goes as smoothly and quickly as possible.

COMMUNITY MEETING

Thank you to the 67 residents who turned out to the Community Meeting on 23rd November

2023.  This was an important meeting to enable the Community to move forward with regards

to the dissolution of the Community Council.  At the meeting a unanimous vote was taken to

hold a Community Governance Poll.  Councillors will now liaise with Newport City Council to

arrange a date within the timescales stipulated by legislation. Minutes of meeting

FEEDBACK FROM WORKSHOP WITH PLANNING AID WALES IN RESPECT OF THE 

REPLACEMENT LOCAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN

IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR USERS OF THE PLAY PARK AT LONGLANDS LANE

It is with deep regret that Council has to inform you of their decision to close the play park on

Longlands Lane with immediate effect, due to health & safety issues.  For your own safety and

that of your children please do not use any of the play equipment.  The Council will now look in

to the finances required to replace and refurbish the play park as soon as it is able.  Councillors

sincerely regret this decision, and apologise for any inconvenience caused.  They would take this

opportunity to advise you that the nearest council operated play park is run by Magor with Undy 

Town Council adjacent to Magor Primary School, off Sycamore Terrace.
